WHAT WE DO
Association of Ghanaian Canadian Law Enforcement Officers is a non profit organization formed in 2020. It was created and lead by local Ghanaian Canadian Law Enforcement Officers. The organization is comprised of Officers of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Toronto Police Service, Peel Regional Police, York Regional Police, Provincial Correctional Services, Federal Correctional Services, Canada Border Services Agency, Youth Detection Center, Probation and Parole, Canadian Armed Forces and the Ontario Provincial Police.
1. Our Mission
The Association of Ghana Canadian Law Enforcement Officer’s mission is to make a difference in the Ghanaian community and address the needs and concerns with respect to Law and Security.
It was founded on the vision of bridging gaps, mending bridges and creating partnerships in the community.
A.G.C.L.E.O membership consist of officers from:
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
- Peel Regional Police
- Toronto Police Services
- York Regional Police
- Provincial Correctional Services
- Federal Corrections Services
- Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)
- Youth Detention Centre
- Probation and Parole Officers
- Canadian Armed Forces
- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)
OUR GOALS
- Focus on bridging the gap between Ghanaian communities and Law enforcement.
- Provide educational and information sessions to promote law enforcement careers in the Ghanaian Community
- Host community activities and sporting events to engage the Ghanaian youth to help break down the barriers in the relationship between law enforcement and Ghanaian community.
- To address the needs and concerns of the Ghanaian Community in Ontario with respect to Law and Security
- To increase awareness and knowledge about career opportunities in law enforcement
- To promote representation of the Ghanaian community within law enforcement
Meaning behind the Logo
The large maple is a symbol of Canada and is located at the center of the Canadian Flag
The gold leaves represent the Provinces and Territories which make up Canada and are also found the crest and coat of arms of many law enforcement agencies
The Red Gold Green colours are the colours of the Ghanaian flag representing the identity of the organization
The Black Star which represents the emancipation of Africa and unity against colonialism – a constant reminder of how far we have come
The colours of Ghana and the black star placed inside the large maple leaf is a representation of Ghanaians in Canada
